Magic Valley Bassmasters June 2008 Meeting

Scyler opened the meeting at 7:05.

The OPEN went very well, thanks to all of you that helped out. We had 44 boats this year. The 1st boat out raffle made $300.00, late fee made $275.00 and the raffle made $1,102.00. The feed back about the tent set up was very positive and we will probably use the same set up for next year. The big fish money, plaque and fish mount went to Shawn Crowley he caught a 3.84. It was nice to see someone in our club receive it and we had alot of members also received money. Thank you to Dale & Nate for all the great pictures on the web and in the news paper, you guys are doing are great job.

A special thanks needs to go out to a few people that helped out at our OPEN: Brad for doing such a great job with the mic talking to all the anglers. CSR (Steve & Kevin) for the $1,500.00 added money. Larry & Brenda Luper for donating the gas that was used to pull the release boat to and from Milner and helping out with the check in making sure no boats came in late and for taking care of the release boat with all the fish. Shawn for getting the chalk line maker and chalk donated, and to Vern, Steve Vining, Butch, Ron Lewis, Ron Scott, Dale Jarrell, Shawn Crowley, Kevin Osborne, Dale Taylor, Nate Cooke, Larry & Brenda Luper, and we can't forget Hunter for helping set up and tear down the Tents. Dale Taylor repacked the bearings on the trailer, donated a new battery, and rewired the trailer so the battery can charge while driving.

The State Championship will be held on Sept. 6th, at C.J. Strike, Vern & Steve are fishing it. The winners will be going to Flaming Gorge. Good luck to them.

Scyler handed out flyers for the Snake River Valley Bass Clubs Open information. It will be June 14th at Milner and will have a $2,000.00 added money. If you need more information contact Karen Keith at 208-785-6729.

The Jr. Championship will be held on June 15th at Milner. They are needing all the help they can get with boaters and volunteers. For more information contact Scyler at 324-1346.

June 28th will be Filer Fun Days which we will be doing a Casting Kids event. We need to have members help out. The event should start around 9:00 at the Filer Fairground. For more information contact Dale Jarrell at 543-5908. Dale has also had a member from BASF donate $200.00 to help out with gas for the 2 boaters that will take the 2 winners fishing.

We will also be doing the 4th of July parade again this year, we will put in the trailer and 2 boats. And after the parade Dale & Cheryl will be having a Pot Luck BBQ, you don't want to miss this, the food is always GREAT!!!!

June 7th, this SATURDAY will be Free Fishing Day at the State Fish Hatchery in Hagerman. The club members should show up at 8:00 and wear our club shirts or fishing shirts if they have them. We will be helping to show kids how to fish and to help net the fish, and you might want to bring a net and a pair of pliers. This event should get over at 12:00 and will have a bbq and a raffle.

Our next tournament will be Sunday, June 8th at American Falls we will be launching from the American Falls side of the lake out of Willow Bay. You will need to pay $3.00 to launch your boat. The lady at the Cafe will open at 4:30 and will be serving breakfast and coffee. The food is always good and not to expensive.
